Testimonials

Nicole Hopkins, Dec 2016, Apt 8 –

I am originally from Sacramento but moved away to pursue my career. When I come home to visit family, I like to enjoy the privacy of my own domain. That’s why I rent The Doc Dorm. The location is central to all Sacramento has to offer. The neighborhood has come a long way from its old reputation and I feel safe entering, exiting, and residing on the property. The unit was clean and stocked with bottled water, linens, kitchenware, toiletries, cleaning supplies and two smart TVs. The management is very responsive and professional. I will continue to choose this property as my location of choice to call my home when I visit my hometown.
James M., May – July 2016, Apt 4 – The DocDorm is living at its Best. messages-image%282322352071%29Affordable housing in a safe neighborhood minutes from UCDH. A short drive to downtown & all its shops and restaurants, this property is right where you wanna be. And you won’t find a friendlier, more reputable, more respectfable, more accommondating, and more honest landlord than Al.
de rosa Krystal , January – June 2016, Apt 6 –  I am beyond grateful for my time at Apartment 6.  Being fairly new to the area and on my own, I was grateful to find the DocDorm during my sear ch for housing.  This was the perfect place to be while studying for my Step 1 Exam for medical school.  It was a wonderful space to study as the area was very quiet and the residents were very respectful.  When I needed a break, I often walked to a coffee shop close by or went for a jog around the area.  The DocDorm had everything I needed including parking, a washer/dryer, a bicycle, full furnishings and an awesome landlord who always made himself available if anything was ever needed.  If you are looking for a safe, quiet and comfortable space, the DocDorm is the place to be.
Roma & Anand, December 2015 – I was a postdoctoral scholar at UCDMC and I stayed in Apt3 for almost a year. I moved to Merced from India with my husband. Initially when I got an offer from UCDMC, it was very difficult for both of us to decide as my husband was quite concerned about my safety and stay in sacramento. However, I was lucky to find Docdorm and hats off to our landlord Al, who make things so easy going for his residents. The apartment is well-furnished with bed, sofa, refrigerator, microwave, chairs, folding table, necessary kitchen wares and wifi fast enough to skype India and chat with my family. I was so busy at work throughout my stay but I had no worries for things at apartment. If you ever need anything Al could be so easily reached and he would make sure that everything is fixed without any delays. I was so impressed for eg. once I needed an iron and Al provided me with a new iron and ironing board the same day. Also As the summers started, I generally told Al about the heat and much to my surprise he fixed my apartment air-conditioner the same day! He gives so much attention to make your stay as easy as possible here. My husband was very impressed as he felt that the unit is very safe and friendly for my stay and our landlord is very cooperative. Moreover it is so close to UCDMC. I would suggest that you will not find a better unit and landlord in this area. Overall my experience was excellent and if I ever plan to come back to UCDMC I know I am coming back here!
Stephen Campbell, November 2015 – I’m a fourth-year medical student, and I lived in Apartment 6 during my month-long rotation at UCDMC. The place was clean and fully furnished when I arrived. There was already a new shower curtain, fresh sheets, towels, utensils, and even a fridge full of a 24-pack of water. Furthermore, Al was always accessible. Whether I needed a spare key after locking myself out or my seat height adjusted on the bike provided, Al was there to help. Anyone would be hard-pressed to find a better bargain or a better landlord in the area.
Dennis Chou, June 2015 – I was a pre-medical surgical student interning at UC Davis Medical Center this summer. I stayed in Apt 4 Room B for about 3 weeks. As stated in the other testimonials, the place is convenient and safe, located very close to the medical center. I would walk to UCDMC in the morning and return in the evening after my hospital shift ended. The photos and videos are accurate portrayals of how the place looks. Al is often available to help you troubleshoot any issues you may have (like Internet/WiFi!). I appreciated how the apartment already came with certain things like desk lamps and bedsheets. My stay was brief, but I would recommend DocDorm for those who plan to work at UCDMC.
kai-and-liKai & Li, January – April, 2015, Apt 3 – I was a visiting scholar at UCD Medical Center and stayed in Apt 3 for three months. I have to say that I enjoyed the temporary stay here. The location is convenient and safe, and the landlord is very nice and professional. If there is any issue or concern, Al could be easily reached and fixed the problem promptly. In addition, he is very considerate of tenants. For example, when my wife delivered our  baby girl during the stay, Al provided a nice nursing chair, which was greatly appreciated. In general, I would recommend this apartment for the visiting student, scholar, or medical students at UCDMC as a place for short-term stay.
Prasant-JenaPrasant K Jena, August 2014 – Current, Apt 4A & Apt 7 – a Post Doctoral scholar working in UC Davis Medical Center. This is my first visit to US from India. I have communicated Mr. Al Williamson, the Land owner via email before coming to US and the first time I met him at the bus stop as he came there to receive me at 11 pm. I surprised for his help. When I came to the apartment, he arranged every daily requirements for me. He has been taking care of all the basic needs whenever necessary. Beyond this also he rendered help for shopping for required stuffs when I am entirely new to this place. It was a nice experience for me as a foreigner to stay in Williamson’s apartment. From my point of view, he is kindest gentleman, who can understand a need of a person who came from another country. He is a very nice person, polite, and helpful person. In day to day basis, he always taking care of all the people who are staying at his apartment complex and also very hard working to maintain clean of the society campus. Overall, I am feeling, it was good to have such kind of Landlord and staying at his home. I am very glad and most comfortable with his hospitality.
KarlaKarla Plascencia – 2005 to 2013 – I lived in Apartment #8 as I interned at UCDMC and worked on my nursing degree. The complex is extremely neat, Al pays a lot of attention to detail. If I ever needed anything he would make sure it was handled immediately. I was very impressed with how friendly and prompt he was. Both landlords are super attentive. I felt like I could communicate any concern and they would be addressed right away. In all honesty I felt that they wanted their tenants to be happy. During the eight years I lived in the complex I never had a problem and felt very comfortable living close to the med center. As a 5-foot tall, single woman, felt safe but, of course, I didn’t walk around at 1:00 am. Most of my neighbors were students and very friendly. I had to relocate due to graduate school otherwise I would have never moved out. My experience was flawless. It is the ideal complex for students!
JoshJosh Bradshaw, October 2014, Apt 4B – I came to Sacramento for a 1-month away rotation at UC Davis Medical Center. Al was very flexible and was able to work me in last minute just a week before. The apartment had everything I needed for the month – a private locked room with a bed, a desk, shared kitchen with fridge and cupboard space, shared bathroom, wifi fast enough to stream movies and skype. Al told me when I showed up to let him know if I needed anything else and when I asked him for an iron, he showed up with a brand new iron and ironing board the next day. The apartment is close to UCD – just a few minutes away on the bike that is provided with the apartment. There is also parking in the back if you need it and there is always street parking available. This was a perfect place to stay for the month and I would highly recommend it to any med students doing a rotation at UCD.
NianNian Verzosa, September 2014, Apt 6 – I received a diversity scholarship to do a rotation at UC Davis and was placed in Apartment 6. The apartment provided the basic necessities: clean bedroom, fully furnished with a kitchen, bicycle for easy access around Sacramento, good location about a 5 min. bike ride from the hospital, easy to find parking, and internet. I felt the room met my needs for my month long away rotation. Al, the manager, was easily accessible through text or phone to help with any issues I had. I would recommend this to future med student rotators looking for housing near UCDMC.
